In 2023, brothers Kennedy and Ben Klaus saw an opportunity that no one else was seizing in Tampa Bay — a truly professional, indoor, climate-controlled pickleball environment where players of every skill level could thrive. They built it from the ground up.
What started as a single facility in Oldsmar — running on third-party software while they learned the business — rapidly evolved into a multi-state operation powered entirely by proprietary technology they designed themselves.

Brothers Kennedy and Ben Klaus open the first Pickleball Academy in Oldsmar, FL. A fully indoor, climate-controlled facility with professional acrylic courts ensuring skill-level-matched sessions for the first time in the Tampa Bay area. Day-to-day operations ran on third-party software as the team focused on building the community from the ground up.
The second location launches in Smyrna, Georgia with a game-changing innovation: fully automated door entry running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Players access 2 private courts any time without staff present. This location is also the first to run on the Academy's own custom-built software platform, eliminating third-party tools and setting the template for every future facility.
The Savannah, Georgia facility extends the Academy's reach into the Southeast. Simultaneously, the team ships the Communication Hub — a unified platform where players send texts or emails directly to Academy staff, who respond from one centralised inbox. No missed messages, no dropped threads, instant response times across every location.
Lakeland becomes the fourth Academy location, deepening the Florida presence and serving an entirely new Central FL market. All systems run natively on the Academy's proprietary platform — no third-party dependencies, full control over data and player experience.
On September 3rd, 2025, The Pickleball Academy officially transitions all five locations to its own fully custom-built software suite. Built entirely in-house, the platform unifies scheduling, event management, payments, leaderboards, memberships, player communications, POS, and reporting into one seamless system. New features ship every week. This is the technological backbone that empowers the Academy to grow without limits.
The fifth facility opens in Greenville, South Carolina. In parallel, the team ships the Round Robin Software — a live court display system that broadcasts which players are on which courts in real time during Round Robin events. Players and spectators see live rotations and matchups on a dashboard, bringing a spectacular new layer of energy and transparency to social play at every Academy location.
The Academy integrates Artificial Intelligence into player evaluation — objectively assessing skill levels, identifying strengths, and surfacing personalised growth paths for every player. The engineering team ships improvements weekly: smarter scheduling, richer analytics, deeper automation. This is not a finished product — it is a living platform that grows with every court, every player, and every match.
